Fight over beer in New York ended with a man stabbed to death – La Opinion

Authorities reported that A man was stabbed to death during a fight over beer outside a Queens, New York, bodega early Tuesday morning.. A store worker was taken into police custody, according to police.

The victim was stabbed in the chest around 12:30 a.m. in front of the Mini Mart on Queens Boulevard near 65th Road in Rego Park, according to New York Post law enforcement sources.

He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.authorities said.

The fatal stabbing stemmed from a dispute over alcohol, sources said, but they did not immediately have further details on how the altercation unfolded.

The victim has not been identified by police.

The store employee was detained but not immediately charged.

“This is tragic, this is what we were trying to avoid, someone losing their life,” Fernando Mateo, spokesperson for Bodegas Unidas de América, said of the violence in a statement.

“We ask the public and media not to jump to conclusions until NYPD detectives have solved the puzzle. “We hope the NYPD video tapes tell the real story of what happened,” he continued.

“UBA believes District Attorney Melinda Katz will be fair after reviewing the evidence and viewing the videotapes,” the spokesperson added, noting that his organization will hold a press conference “once we have the full story” and will decline to comment further until then.
