Mallorca advanced to the final of the Copa del Rey with a victory against Real Sociedad on penalties, a great objective achieved for a team fighting for relegation in the Spanish League.

After being promoted to the First Division in two years, Mallorca is experiencing one of the best stages in its history. Javier Aguirre on the bench is another claim for possible new avenues of economic expansion of the Balearic entity in Mexico and the United States.

The final in Seville on April 6 (Copa del Rey) and the tournament in Saudi Arabia in January 2025 (Spanish Super Cup) will represent an increase in income “not yet quantified,” according to manager Alfonso Díaz.

The Mallorcan club has a budget of 64 million and a salary limit of 60,963,000 euros ($65.8 million dollars), being thirteenth among all EA Sports La Liga clubs.

“When we hired Aguirre (March 2022) the club was in crisis, very close to relegation. We knew that his profile fit what we wanted. And that’s how it was,” Díaz commented.

Mallorca has already earned the opportunity to be in the final and be in a Spanish Super Cup, an event that can increase the visibility of the club and the coffers if they advance to the final of the same tournament.

For playing in the Spanish Super Cup, Mallorca is guaranteed one million euros ($1.08 million dollars), amount that can increase depending on the results you obtain in Riyadh.

Díaz also highlights other sources of income with the completed comprehensive renovation of the Son Moix stadium, now without an athletics track, with covers on the stands and spectators seated 7.5 meters from the playing field.

“In 2016 (in Second B) the club had 8,000 subscribers. Today we have 21,000, 5,000 more than last season and we continue to grow. In a five-star stadium like Son Moix, and with large spaces, we have invested around 30 million euros, 24 in construction and the rest in equipment,” explains the manager.
