Jaime Lozano on the Concacaf Nations League: “Our goal is the title” – La Opinion

The Mexican National Team prepares to play against Panama in the semifinals of the Concacaf Nations Leaguea tournament in which El Tri has lost ground with respect to the United States, winner of the two editions played so far, a situation that Jaime Lozano hopes to change.

The Mexican coach highlighted that although he considers that it is not an “obligation” to win the tournament that will be defined this month in Dallas, they are confident in being able to end the dominance imposed by the American team that will define the other semifinal against Jamaica.

“We want to go out to each tournament with the best possible, there are four very strong teams, which have grown a lot and the United States has long been our antagonist, we have lost the last two games with them. I don’t know if it’s an obligation, but our goal is the title.”commented the DT.

The Mexican National Team lost the final of the Concacaf Nations League that they played against the Stars and Stripes team in the 2019-2020 edition and two years later they fell again to the Americans, this time in the semifinals of the contest.

“Historically, Mexico was a candidate to win any tournament in the area, but there has been the growth of some teams, such as the United States, which has taken over this tournament. We are excited to lift this pending tournament”added Jaime Lozano in an interview with ESPN.

The Mexican coach comes from an extensive tour of Europe where he was able to learn first-hand about the current situation of the players who live in the Old Continent and with whom he hopes to put together the squad for the duel against Panama on March 21 with his sights set on the final three days later.

In addition to trying to settle that outstanding debt with the United States, El Tri will have a very busy agenda this year with their participation in the Copa América in which they will play Group B of the tournament with Ecuador, Venezuela and Jamaica. The competition will take place between the months of June and July.

Prior to the Copa América, the Mexican team will be playing a couple of high-level friendly matches when they face Brazil and Uruguay on the double FIFA friendly date in June. The duel against the Charrúas will be on June 4 at Empower Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos of the NFL.

Three days later they will do the same against Canarinha at Kyle Field in Texas. For both matches, it is expected to have a massive attendance of fans taking into account the capacities of both sporting venues: 76 thousand and 102 thousand fans, respectively.
