After the first image of the cast of the new film went viral, superman, James Gunndirector of the film and in charge of the new DC Cinematographic Universe, fired the starting shot of this new phase by announcing the start of filming of the film.
Through his social networks, the director of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy revealed that, unplanned, the beginning of principal photography coincides with the birthday of superman.
“I’m thrilled to announce the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which happens to be, coincidentally and unplanned, Superman’s birthday.”
Superman: Legacy changes name
In the same publication, where you can see a first look at the suit that the “Man of Steel” will probably wear in the film, the writer also commented that at the beginning of writing the script he had chosen the title of “Superman: Legacy”. However, after finishing the final draft, she chose to change the name of the film to, simply, “superman”.
When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the movie “Superman: Legacy.” When I closed the final draft, it was clear that the title was SUPERMAN.”
Finally, Gunn He took advantage of the publication to confirm the release date of the film, which, as had been revealed since last year, will be in July 2025.
Superman will open a new phase in DC
After the resounding crisis of D.C.which increased during 2023 thanks to the failure of films such as “The Flash”, “Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom” and “Blue Beetle”, the company, belonging to Warner Bros. Discovery, left it in the hands of James Gunn and Peter Safranlast year, the future of the DC superhero saga.
Subsequently, and after the announcement of the entry of Gunn and safranthe new leaders of the superhero branch revealed their future plans, which include a series of phases or sagas made up of various films, in the purest style of Marvel.
For all of the above, and in accordance with DC’s plan, the film that will inaugurate the new DC universe is Superman, which will be directed by Gunn himself. For his conception, the American filmmaker will have David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman; Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane; Nicholas Hount as Lex Luthor; Nathan Fillon as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merce as Hawkgirl, among other actors.
“Superman” will hit the big screen on July 11, 2025.
