The MLB issued a statement this Friday after the notable changes to the Major League uniform. The smaller print and how it affected the player during the match were the most recurring complaints.
After a first month of complaints and accusations, the MLB and Nike have decided to announce that there will be changes. The institutions issued a statement, but made it clear that this change will be for 2025.
“Feedback from players and clubs is extremely important to us,” said Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. “Together with Nike, we listened to our players and, as a result, are addressing their concerns.”
For the 2025 season, Nike-designed MLB uniforms will feature larger lettering on the back of jerseys and individual pants customization will be available to all players.
The statement notes that Nike is also working on a solution to address slight color differences between the jerseys and pants. of the gray uniforms of some teams. Also in the discoloration that can occur due to perspiration in certain cases.
Once the fix is finalized, the fitted gray uniforms will hit the field as early as the second half of this season.
“We will continue to work with Nike to make adjustments to deliver a uniform that looks good and helps MLB players perform at their best,” Manfred said.
New York Mets player Brandon Nimmo spoke publicly about the uniforms and even complained about the pants.
