This week the 39th Soberano Awards ceremony was celebrated in style from the Dominican Republic, where once again the Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte) paid tribute to the contributions in art and culture. 55 winners were awarded in different categories.
Alipio Coco Cabrera, host of the radio program El Palo Con Coco that airs Monday to Friday from 3pm to 7pm on X96.3FM, was recognized with the award for Outstanding Broadcaster Abroad, the first time he has received the distinction in more than 40 years of radio career.
“Thanks to the invaluable collaboration with the Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte), we are very proud to have been able to provide a cultural event of great interest to our Hispanic community and to have obtained a very positive response from New Yorkers that is reflected in these results,” were the words of Roberto Yañez, Northeast Regional Manager, President and General Manager of Univision 41 New York, which capture the channel’s feelings about the event that was broadcast on Tuesday, March 12.
According to a statement, Premios Soberano was the most tuned in program during its period among adults 18-49 with 110 thousand viewers and the most watched throughout the day among adults 18 to 34 years old. “The awards also surpass the audience of People Choice Awards broadcast on NBC on February 18, 2024, ABC’s Country Music Awards on November 8, 2023, and Billboard Latin Music Awards on Telemundo broadcast on May 10, 2023.”
During the gala the public was able to enjoy presentations by artists such as Angela Carrasco, the Mexican group Camila, Hermanos Rosario, Eddy Herrera, Lápiz Conciente, and the Spanish performer Natalia Jiménez. In addition, it featured the participation of Juan Luis Guerra, Emmanuel, Fernando Villalona, Wilfrido Vargas, Sergio Vargas and Fefita la Grande among others.
