Chivas releases striker Daniel Ríos and he returns to the MLS with Atlanta United – La Opinion

Chivas del Guadalajara decided to loan to Atlanta United of Major League Soccer (MLS) to the striker born in Mexico City, Daniel Ríos, by virtue of the fact that he did not have the opportunity to add minutes in the project of Argentine coach Fernando Gago.

The reality of things is that the outlook for Ríos in the “Sacred Flock” was the color of an ant since the last Apertura 2023 tournament, in which he was only able to play 68 minutes, a much lower amount than the 519 minutes of Clausura 2023, after a tour of the Promotion League with Atlético Zacatepec.

In this way, Ríos returns to the MLS, where he defended the colors of the Nashville SC and Charlotte FC teams.. In the first he scored six goals in 33 games, becoming the first hire in the history of the Tennessee State team.

From there he went to Charlotte FC in the 2021-2022 season, where he perhaps had his best moment with 30 games and nine goals, showing that he could adapt to the competitive system of North American soccer.

Once the negotiation with Atlanta United was confirmed, The Guadalajara club publicly announced the player’s farewell on their social networks, wishing him luck in his future projects.

“Much success on your path, Daniel Ríos. Thank you for wearing the red and white with so much professionalism and pride,”

It should be noted that the capital artilleryman was trained in the basic forces of Chivas, Then he went to the United States and the Sacred Flock bought him to return as a reinforcement in Clausura 2023.

The reality is that Daniel Ríos’ career has been full of ups and downs, with sparks that were about to consolidate him as a good forward for Chivas, but little by little he lost prominence.

This is demonstrated by the following numbers: in the first tournament he played 12 games, six as a starter and a total of 519 minutes in which he scored his only goal in this stage with Chivas. He scored it on February 18 against Pumas.

For the second semester he only participated in 5 duels, coming on as a substitute, for 68 total minutes. In the current competition, he does not have playing minutes.

Atlanta United announced his signing

On the other hand, Atlanta United also announced the arrival of the player with the following publication: “Atlanta United announces the arrival of Mexican forward Daniel Ríos from CD Guadalajara, on loan for the rest of the 2024 MLS season.

The Chivas forward arrives with almost 200 games as a professional, has a permanent resident card from the United States and will occupy a place in the club’s supplemental squad,” highlighted the club from the state of Georgia.

Regarding the signing, the team’s vice president, Carlos Bocanegra, stated that: “We were looking to strengthen our depth in attack and find a scorer who knows the MLS. “Daniel is a player with whom we are familiar from his previous stages in the league,” he highlighted.
