the beginning of Qatar World Cup 2022 started out great with a resounding victory of Ecuador over the locals. The South American team pressed and dominated throughout the game and showed that their return to a World Cup is serious.
With a score of 0-2, Ecuador beat Qatar and even the score could have been bulging except for the endurance of an Asian team that had six months of preparation to raise its level and not let itself be humiliated at the beginning of its tournament in front of its own people.
The man of the match was striker Enner Valencia who did everything: scoring a penalty, header and even suffered disappointment due to the annulment of a goal. In addition, the attacker became the all-time top scorer for ‘La Tri’ in the World Cup.
The first goal was from 12 steps after the Qatari defense committed a foul on Valencia himself, who did not miss in front of the goalkeeper, it was running on minute 16. The second goal was also in the first half; Enner took advantage of a great cross from Preciado who masterfully headed into Al Sheeb’s net.
With this defeat, Qatar becomes the first National Team to host the World Cup and loses in the opening match. Although the locals were close to scoring in the last minutes of the game when the Ecuadorian National Team was already cherishing victory, deserved for those led by coach Gustavo Alfaro who fought to return to a World Cup.
Massive attendance at the start of the Qatar 2022 World Cup
The organization of the Qatar 2022 World Cup set itself the goal that the Al Bayt Stadium in Doha would have a full house and that was the case. Between Ecuadorian fans, who represented a true yellow tide, and local fans, there were more than 60,000 spectators.there was not room for a pin in the sports venue built for this tournament.
The Qatari fans started the match with great enthusiasm, applying pressure and encouraging their team; but the initial energy faded as the 11 players placed on the pitch by coach Gustavo Alfaro dominated the game and took the result.
The part of the stands that at first was populated with white robes ended empty in the last 10 minutes of the opening match of the World Cup, despite the fact that the Qatari National Team was close to making it 1-2 on the scoreboard.
For its part, Ecuador kept an eye on Valencia, the victim of a hard tackle that could have left him out of the game, although the player clung to his historic game. Until he couldn’t take it anymore and in the 75th minute, again limping from a hard challenge, he left his place to Cifuentes.
