More than 20 years after its premiere, in 2003, “school of rock” continues to remain one of the best musical comedies of recent years. And thanks to its unmatched cast, led by Jack Blackas well as the originality and versatility of its story, the film directed by Richard Linklater retains its validity.
Due to the above, and as a result of the furor that it continues to cause, questions about a sequel have resurfaced thanks to the latest statements from the same Jack Black.
During his most recent interview, as part of the promotion of his film “Kung Fu Panda 4”, the “Nacho Libre” singer was asked about a possible sequel to “School of Rock”.
I wish there was a School of Rock 2. I’m ready.”
Jack Black’s condition to make a sequel to “School of Rock”
In the same talk, the American comedian mentioned that he has remained close with his co-stars over the years. Due to the above, and thanks to the positive response from people, Black revealed that he was prepared for a sequel but considering one of the architects of the success of the first film: Mike White.
You know Mike White wrote the first one and he’s a genius. And we should have Mike White back at the helm, but he himself is very busy now with ‘White Lotus,’ the best show on television.”
It is worth mentioning that White is in Thailand as part of his work as a screenwriter on the third season of “The White Lotus”.
Jack Black remembers “School of Rock” with love
In various interviews, Jack Black has revealed the importance and significance that the 2003 film has had in his personal and professional life. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2022, the actor revealed that “School of Rock” has been one of the highlights of his career.
My best memories are that group of kids and how fun and cool they were. It’s definitely the highlight of my career, I can say. Honestly.
Launched in 2003, “school of rock” became an instant classic of musical cinema. And in addition to the inclusion and naming of a large number of rock music stars, the film achieved great notoriety thanks to its talented cast led by the actress Miranda Cosgrove.
