In much more unfortunate news this Sunday the news of the death of one of the most recognized Latin American technical directors in the world, César Luis Menotti, The Argentine soccer association, where he worked as director of national teams, mourned the loss of the world champion coach with the albiceleste in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.

“El Flaco” was admitted to the hospital at the end of last March for a thrombophlebitis that led to severe anemiaafter having remained hospitalized for several days, had been discharged in mid-April.

Menotti began his football career as a player in Rosario Central and retired just 10 years later with Juventus.then began a fruitful career as a coach with Newell’s Old Boys and the following year he moved where his career took off not only because of the title he obtained, but because of his philosophy and his way of training, understanding his players and imprinting a mentality of improvement.

This success led him to take the reins of the Albiceleste team, which won the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.

A year later he also won the World Cup with the Under 20 team where the figure of the tournament was a then very young Diego Armando Maradona.he also directed the Barcelona Football Club where he won three titles in one year, Copa del Rey, Copa de la Liga and Super Copa de España, he directed other great clubs from different parts of the world such as Atlético de Madrid, Boca Juniors, Peñarol and River Plate among others, in addition to his memorable time with the Mexican National Team in the early 90s of the last century.
