Mental health deviation, the objective of Chávez Jr.’s defense.

Attorney Goldstein explained this Tuesday the objective in the defense of the son of the Mexican boxing legend.

“Ultimately what we are trying to do is reach a resolution with the district attorney’s office, which would grant a proposal that is known as a diversion, whether it be mental health diversion or just judicial diversion,” Goldstein explained.

If the mental health or judicial diversion or diversion proposal is granted, the case could be dismissed and Chavez would avoid going to jail.

When La Opinión asked the lawyer if he feels that there is empathy on the part of the judge towards Chávez Jr., he said: “I believe that the judge understands what is happening. There are very smart judges in this building, and the prosecutors too. No one is working against Julio in all of this. Julio is really the one who has to put his life in order, he has to do it himself and he is doing it every day. I see progress.”

But he’s working his way out of it; He’s going to get ahead, I know it., I’m confident, he’s confident. Every day is a new challenge for him, but he is doing everything he is supposed to do and has an incredible support system.”
