Mexican Daniel Duarte will have to miss the entire season with the Minnesota Twins after requiring surgery on his elbow.
Duarte had earned a spot on the Twins roster during spring training. He had only seen action in two games this season.
“He had an ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction 10 years ago,” Nick Paparesta said of Duarte.. “He will need another procedure on his elbow. “I won’t say exactly what it will be until the procedure is done to give you a little more details about it.”
Duarte, born in Huatabampo (Mexico), pitched 4.0 innings, one run allowed, one win and three strikeouts.
A right elbow injury limited Duarte, 27, to three games with Cincinnati in 2022, but he had a 3.69 ERA in 31 games with the Reds last season.
