The four Argentine Vélez Sarsfield soccer players who were accused of sexual abuse allegedly committed on March 3 in San Miguel de Tucumán were “deprived of liberty” for 48 hours this Monday, sources in the case reported.

The players, in which the naturalized Mexican Sebastián Sosa is involved, will be “deprived of their freedom” until another hearing is held that will determine whether they go to preventive detention.

Ernesto Baaclini, Sebastián Sosa’s defense lawyer, commented that the player claims that he is innocent and hopes to prove it at the hearing.

“He is sick and distressed by the situation. He considers that the complaint is unfair, he knows and states that he is innocent, That is what we are going to prove in this case: his innocence,” said Ernesto Baaclini, Sosa’s lawyer, for the Argentine radio broadcast La Red.

Sosa has extensive experience in Mexican football after having a career in Pachuca, Morelia, Mazatlán and Pumas.

Vélez suspended the contracts of the four players after the arrest

Vélez Sarsfield suspended the contracts of the four footballers who were accused of sexual abuse allegedly committed on March 3 in San Miguel de Tucumán (northwest) and that this Monday they were “deprived of liberty,” announced the Argentine club.

In a statement released on their social networks, the Liniers neighborhood entity, which had already preventively separated them from the rest of the campus, reported that “resolved the suspension of the employment contract” of Sebastián Sosa, José Florentin, Braian Cufré and Abiel Osorioand ordered “the beginning of an internal summary so that, as soon as possible, the definitive measures to be taken with respect to the four players are determined.”
