Authorities reported that A registered transgender sex offender was arrested by police after he allegedly tried to kidnap a boy from a Colorado elementary school..
Solomon Galligan, 33, was arrested after arriving at a field where children were playing at Black Forest Hills Elementary School in Aurora last Friday afternoon, 9News reported.
Surveillance video captured Galligan approaching the students moments before they dispersed and began yelling, “Stranger danger!”
Galligan allegedly grabbed one of the children, but lost him when he tripped over a white blanket he was carrying, according to the police report.
The nearly kidnapped boy later told police that the alleged offender had white powder smeared on his face and smelled of alcohol.
Galligan quickly fled, but police later tracked him down to a nearby Walgreens, where he was arrested and charged with one count of attempted kidnapping.
The suspect, identified as a man in the arrest affidavit, shared news of his gender transition on Facebook in 2011.
“So I’m starting to take my hormone injections and I really can’t wait. I’m taking my hormonal pills. I have been taking them for almost 4 months. I wake up depressed and crying, but it will be worth it in the end. You know what I mean? I am very excited. My measurements are already changing and I am super excited,” she wrote.
Galligan was placed on the sex offender registry that same year and was convicted of sexual contact without consent, according to his latest arrest affidavit.
Following his most recent arrest, Galligan is being held on $25,000 bail at the Aurora Jail.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
