Premier League clubs have unanimously decided the introduction of the semi-automatic game playerthe technology that was used in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, for the 2024-2025 season.
According to the competition, the plan is to introduce this technology after one of the national team breaks in September or October.
This semi-automatic offside will reduce the time of VAR reviews by about 31 seconds.
“This technology will provide greater speed and consistency with the virtual offside line, based on optical tracking of the player. It will also produce high-quality graphics for television and an improved stadium experience for fans“The Premier League said in a statement.
It is also intended to introduce this system in the FA Cup qualifiers that are played on the ground of Premier League clubsas well as in the semi-finals and final of the competition at Wembley.
In the Qatar World Cup, a chip was introduced inside the ball that was responsible for determine the last touch of the ball in doubtful plays.
This technology is also used in Champions League and Serie A and was used in the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and in the Club World Cup that Manchester City won.
