Promoter Guillermo Lara applauds Memo Ochoa’s desire for his sixth World Cup and judges Carlos Vela to be ungrateful – La Opinion

The controversial promoter of Mexican soccer Guillermo Lara, while highlighting and giving as an example of life the desire of goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa wanting to play in his sixth World Cup, he also has harsh criticism against forward Carlos Vela for his repeated refusals to defend his national jersey.

In an exclusive talk with La Opinión, Guillermo Lara spoke about issues of Mexican soccer – in which he was supposedly banned years ago without anything having been proven – including the evils that afflict him.. But he highlighted as a great example Memo Ochoa’s desire to play in his sixth World Cup.

“Everyone criticizes Memo Ochoa. You know Memo Ochoa, he is a gentleman. He is a good guy, professional, educated. That’s why he has achieved what he has achieved and why isn’t another goalkeeper (in the national team)? Well, it’s not his decision,” Lara explained.

And the promoter, when praising Ochoa He contrasted him with Carlos Vela and his rejection of the Mexican team for several years. “Who are you? If the national team gave you everything. Who are you? God. Ah, because now he has a lot of money, well what a pity that you are such bad people and don’t appreciate that, but that is training. That’s home, that’s education, that’s cool.”

Does Carlos Vela surprise you that he has rejected the national team so many times?

Aren’t you surprised? Hey, you tell him: ‘Wait for me, I just got into a fight with someone or they told me this.’ So I say, how delicate, but when you were in the national team, you went to the national team and all that, it didn’t hurt you at all. Who formed you? They didn’t train you at home, the team trained you, that team (under 17) was concentrated to work and work and they were champions. Forget it, yes you can, with a group that you educate, that you teach, they were champions.

Lara also added that: “That was done well when it was [Juan Carlos] Ortega, when “Chema” Ruiz was there, when these people were there, because they worked and saw all the talent, but Now it is not possible for Mexican soccer to be full of Spaniards and foreigners…”.

When returning to the topic of Guillermo Ochoa, the promoter acknowledged that: “They criticize Memo Ochoa for the goal against the United States (in the Nations League), but from my perspective Memo Ochoa is blocked by the defender and when he reacts, the ball was already coming on the way and nobody says anything about that, because they like to leave with the alarm, with this. Memo Ochoa is covered by his defense, and when he reacts the ball is there. ‘Ah, he jumped late,’ but of course, because he is moving to wait for the shot.”

Lara also said in relation to this: “But the ball was already coming. That’s football, but we’re all malinchistas and we kill people and all that. We like that because we are ignorant. We like to bother people, but watch the replay, please, watch calmly and you will notice in the image that the defender is there in his path. The ball comes and Memo reacts late. That goal kills him.”

For that reason, Lara assured: “Then they start with Memo, I don’t know what. Memo has shown the personality, the intelligence, why they call him and he goes. Or what is he going to say? ‘Today put Luis Malagón, today put this one’, but he is not the coach.”

Would you like to see him at the sixth World Cup?

Of course, I would like to see him and if he continues working, if he continues playing in Europe and wants to, these are things that motivate you, they are examples of life. I continue working, Memo Lara continues working, because it is my passion and if they take this job away from me, what am I going to do?… My garden.
