The press was completely surprised to hear Emma Stone’s name as Oscar winner in the best actress category for her role as Bella Baxter in the film “Poor Things.” This was a competitive shortlist, yes, but in which many already saw the Oscar in the hands of Sandra Huller for “Anatomy of a Fall.”
The rest of the nominees in this category were: Annette Bening for “Nyad”, Lily Gladstone in the film “Killers of the Flower Moon” as well as Carey Mulligan for her character in “Maestro”.
Stone’s surprising reaction to this award reflects the same surprise of the public and the foreign press, which did not expect her as a winner, but at the same time celebrates her because she continues to be a great actress in this industry.
The work of the actress, Stone, is not underestimated, because she does a job worth highlighting, however many consider that her victory will give a lot to talk about because in addition to Hüller, Lily Gladstone for “Killers of the Flower Moon” was talked about as a possible winner in this category, since much of the drama of this screening lies in his performance.
Stone does not even seem ready to give a statement commensurate with her victory in such an important category at this ceremony, another fact that many take as confirmation that she did not expect this recognition for herself.
