Pantera Nery will not bow down to Naoya Inoue and promises to cover his mouth: “I’m going to disrespect him” – La Opinion

Luis ‘Pantera’ Nery assured that he will not give in to Naoya Inoue and He promised to cover the mouths of those who think that the Japanese will defeat him easily when they compete for the undisputed 122-pound championship on May 6 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.

In statements collected by Izquierdazo, Pantera Nery made it clear that he is not afraid of Inoue and that he will not give away the victory like Stephen Fulton did, since His mentality is to win and become undisputed monarch of the category.

“My mentality is 100% winning and as I said the first time with (Shinsuke) Yamanaka, I’m not going to travel to Japan to lose, I’m going with the mentality of winning, that’s one. Two, my heart as a Mexican, as a fighter, knows what we are like and I am going to give it my all, I am not Fulton who is only going to sell the victory, who was only going to sell the belts, I am going to answer, I am going to disrespect him in the ring. “I am not going to shrink or be afraid because he hits hard, because he is fast, many fighters hit hard, many are fast, I have faced many fighters throughout my career,” he said.

“I am going to leave my heart above and I am going to leave my life above the ring to win this fight. Just like in the first fight I am the challenger, we know that many people don’t give a damn for me, they think they are going to knock me out in the first round, that gives me a lot of strength and It gives me a lot of motivation to win, cover mouths and become undisputed champion. I’m not going to go just for the pay, I’m going to win the fight. I’m thinking about winning the fight, I’m not going to collect anything else like Fulton did, he only went to collect,” he added.

Pantera Nery became the WBC’s number one contender after knocking out Azat Hovhannisyan in the 11th round last February in Pomona, California. Now the Mexican fighter will face the Japanese with the intention of becoming undisputed at 122 pounds.

Instead, Naoya Inoue moved up to the junior featherweight division and knocked out Stephen Fulton last June to win the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) belts. Five months later he repeated the result against Marlon Tapales to snatch the titles of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF), and add his second undisputed championship in different weights that he will defend for the first time against the Mexican.

Luis ‘Pantera’ Nery, 28, became the WBC’s mandatory challenger this year and He has a record of 35 wins (27 by fast track) and one setback in his professional career.

For her part, Naoya Inoue, 30, became the undisputed junior featherweight monarch and confirmed his place as one of the best boxers in the pound-for-pound rankings. The Japanese has a record of 26 victories (23 of them by knockout) and no defeats.
