Kristel Candelarioa 32-year-old Ecuadorian woman residing in the United States, pleaded guilty to the death of her 16-month-old baby, Jailyn Candelario.
The case dates back to June 2023, when the defendant left her daughter “alone and unattended” at her home in Cleveland, to go on vacation to Detroit and later to Puerto Rico.

When police responded to the report, they found the baby in a dirty playpen and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities explained that the victim was “extremely dehydrated.”
Candelario pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated murder and one count of child endangerment in the case. His sentencing is scheduled for March, NBC News reported.

According to witnesses consulted by the aforementioned media, it was not the first time that Candelario left the baby alone, and she was even alerted by neighbors and acquaintances.
